Ear infections, also known as, acute otitis media, is an infection cavity behind the eardrum (middle ear) caused by bacteria or viruses. 

For children, the risk factors are higher due to their shorter and more horizontally positioned eustachian tubes.

Pain In The Ear

This pain or discomfort may manifest as sharp, throbbing, or dull, ranging in intensity from mild to severe.

Hearing Changes

It might seem like your ear  is full or that sounds  are muffled. 

If you suspect hearing issues, see a doctor promptly for tests and proper care. The two tests you might see are tympanometry or audiometry  tests.

Fluid Drainage

Signs of an ear infection include fluid or pus draining from the ear, which can vary in consistency and color.

A foul odor may indicate a more prolonged infection.
